AWAKEN

UNFINISHED ANIMATION FILM
(2011) Self-produced

TRAILER

The world as we know it is changing, and there is no turning back. Developed during the height of the 2012 Mayan Prophecy and New Age conspiracy theories, 'Awaken' is a high-stakes sci-fi adventure steeped in cosmic secrets. When a bizarre solar storm severely weakens Earth's magnetic field, triggering devastating earthquakes globally, humanity stands on the brink of an unprecedented cataclysm.

Amidst the apocalyptic chaos, six strangers wake up aboard a mysterious spacecraft with no memory of how they arrived. They soon realize they have been chosen for a journey beyond time itself. Tasked with unlocking an ancient, forgotten power, they must stop a malevolent race from thwarting the evolutionary awakening of all humanity. Because to truly understand the universe, one must first understand themselves.

PIPELINE EVOLUTION

I initially began producing the film using Moviestorm, aiming to leverage its speed for a rapid production cycle. However, the resulting quality closely resembled a video game simulation—similar to The Sims—which wasn't suitable for the serious, cinematic tone the narrative demanded. Dissatisfied with this limitation, I completely overhauled the pipeline, migrating the project to Daz Studio and executing a massive redesign of the entire cast. The new character models looked exceptionally realistic and were a massive leap forward in visual fidelity.

Awaken Character Redesign in Daz Studio

THE REDESIGNED DAZ STUDIO CAST

THE CATASTROPHE

Unfortunately, this project is defined by a catastrophic event. Deep into the production of the revamped Daz Studio version, my primary hard drive suffered an irrecoverable mechanical failure. The drive housed the entire project: rendered shots, project files, and the painstakingly recorded voice dubs. Everything was wiped out instantly. The shock of losing hundreds of hours of work was devastating and halted the film permanently. Only the original trailer and a few scattered images of the character redesigns—saved on external backup drives—survived the crash. This traumatic loss fundamentally changed my workflow forever, instilling a strict, multi-layered cloud backup discipline for all future endeavors.
